Snowmobiling in Ontario: OFSC Trails in Muskoka

Although many of us may have spring on our minds, there’s still time to get outside and experience the end of winter on the snowmobiling trails. Snowmobiling in Ontario is a favorite winter past-time, with more than 30,000 km of trails winding throughout the province. The trails are managed by the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC), which includes the Muskoka snowmobile trails. OFSC Trails in the Muskoka Area


It’s essential to check the trail availability for the OFSC trails before planning a late winter snowmobile trip. Even if the trails are closed this year, you can start thinking about your snowmobile vacation for next winter! Rawley Resort is within District 7, which stretches from Georgian Bay to the boundaries of Algonquin Park. There is around 1600 km of trails accessible in the Muskoka area. These scenic routes wind past gently rolling hills, frozen lakes, valleys, and snow-covered forests. Ontario Snowmobile Tours


The OFSC Muskoka trails are some of Ontario’s most popular snowmobiling trails. If you’ve never been snowmobiling or would prefer a guide during your trip, signup for a tour. Back Country Tours is approximately 30 minutes from our resort and offers several guided trips on the OFSC trails.



Back Country Tours has three snowmobile tours available in Orillia. The snowmobiles are equipped for one to two riders and feature electric start and thumb warmers. Here is a brief introduction to the available tours:


  1. One and a Half Hour Adventure Tour: This tour is an excellent introduction to snowmobiling in Ontario. You will ride past the Trent Severn Waterway, The Swift Rapids, Lock 43, and Severn River.

  2. Three-Hour Adventure Tour: This trip will take you further into the wilderness after Swift Rapids. 

  3. Moonlight Ride: Experience the beauty of the winter trails under the moonlight. You will ride to the Torrance Barrens, Dark Sky Reserve, and witness clear views of the night sky’s planets and stars.
